Here's a few things I like to run with.

Okay, I'm a bit of a geek and I love my data. There, I've said it. I've had a Garmin 310XT for several years now. I don't particularly look at it while I'm running (okay, sometimes I look at it constantly..), but I do love to download the data and have a shufty through it afterwards or every week. What I like most is seeing in black and white the effect of training over time on my fitness levels.

I generally prefer to listen to music when I run unless I'm in a particularly beautiful spot when I like to absorb 'nature' - listen to the birds, seagulls, water whatever. The downside to no music is I have to listen to myself panting & grunting like a rutting buck on heat.
I generally don't listen to music when I race as I like to soak in the atmosphere.

Sansa Clip
Lightweight & cheap, what's not to like? Well, they keep breaking. Now I'm on my 3rd one which is starting to fail so I need to start looking for a replacement soon.

Sennheiser PMX 70 Sport
I just checked and I can't believe I bought these in 2006. They've been rained on, sweated on, stuffed into bags and probably sat on. Yet they still work. I find them comfortable to wear and they never become dislodged or drop away from the ears.

I'm not particularly into trainers but I do have a few pairs in various states of decay. My feet don't seem that fussy so I just get whatever's in the sale when a pair falls apart.

Currently I wear:

Inov8 Road-X 255 Running Shoes, size UK10, bought Nov 2014 - for the treadmill
New Balance Leadville MT1210 Trail Running Shoes, size UK10, bought April 2014 - seem really comfortable & luxurious so far
New Balance 1260v2, size UK10, bought Nov 2013 - Like these
New Balance M890v3 size UK10 D Width, bought Sep 2013 - bit disappointed in these. They seem a bit small and my big toe gets squashed.
Saucony ProGrid Ride 5, size UK10.5, bought April 2013
Mizuno Wave Nirvana 6, size UK10, bought July 2010
New Balance MR759SR, size UK10 2E width, bought Dec 2010
New Balance MR00RB, size UK10, bought May 2012 - a 'minimalist' shoe - I love how light they feel though I'm not sure if I could run a marathon in them. Yet.
Salomon XA Pro 3D Ultra, size UK10, bought Nov 2009 - Like these but sometimes a bit painful on the top of my foot so have to pull the laces up carefully. I also find them a bit hard on tarmac.
New Balance MR859EU, size UK10 D width, bought Jan 2010 condemned Apr 13
