A 1h30 half marathon

Yes, that's not a typo. I want to run a 1.30 half marathon. So moving from a current PB of 1.44 or 7:56 min miles to 6:52. I can barely type that number without wincing. 6:52. Ouch.

Let me explain a little. I ran my first marathon in 2007 with my friend Paul who now lives in Canada. He ran 1.33 a couple of years ago over there, probably without much training. He doesn't run so much now so I have a limited window of time before he runs another half next year in which to beat him.
Does that actually explain anything? No matter. It's all totally arbitrary. But it's a target. To be honest, I'd be happy with inside 1h33 but in for a penny, in for a pound...
Though 1.33 at 7:05 pace seems much more achievable!

I haven't quite worked out how I'm going to achieve this seemingly impossible feat yet. But I suppose I should work out just how fast I can run one mile. I hope it's less than 6:52 otherwise I'm in for some serious pain in the next few months.

Update:

So I went out today and decided to clock a mile. I warmed up for 2 miles along the river then ran as fast as I could for a mile, then ran the 3 miles back in a daze. When I checked the data Garmin says average pace for the mile was 6:53. Garmin also says average HR 175 please have a lie down...

Quite laughable then! I want to run a pace for 13 miles that I can barely hold for one mile. It's not like I've been a couch potato for the last 6 months either. Is this goal actually possible for me? Ever?

I don't know. But I'm excited to try and find out. Perhaps not knowing is what makes it exciting.
